Important Announcement: Introducing PopReach Incorporated!

Hey Smurfs‘ Villagers,

Our beloved Smurfs’ Village game will undergo some significant changes in the future together with a bigger community and smurfy adventures. To achieve this, we are happy to announce that PopReach Incorporated will be taking over the updates and publishing of The Smurfs mobile games. PopReach is a Canadian game publisher that owns and operates a number of fantastic games, including Gardens of Time, Kitchen Scramble, City Girl Life and many others. The founders have been creating mobile games for many years, so you’ll be in great hands with PopReach!

The transition will take place in the following months. Until then, Bongfish will continue developing and releasing content updates and more exciting things we will soon announce.

Please ask your questions below, and myself (Twinkiepie) and Spelling Bee will kindly answer them. We will also create a FAQ afterward for everysmurf to see.

PS: We here at Bongfish wanted to thank you for everything that you have done for us. You introduced us to the world of the Smurfs, and all the magic that it contains. We thank you for your constant and honest feedback, your ideas, and community designs that we had the honor to add to Smurfs’ Village. We will never forget this experience, and we will always remember you. ???? But remember that this is not the last goodbye, we just wanted you to hear this news from us first. We still have a few months left to work on Smurfs’ Village and will enjoy it to the fullest, and make you all proud!

Hey Twoshy! It is not time to say goodbye yet! We will still be working on Smurfs' Village for a few months before the PopReach developers will be taking over No worries, Bongfish is fine. We will keep you guys in the loop!

This is indeed unsettling news, the Bongfish team have been such positive protectorates of our beloved SV game! Each update showcased the love and dedication of a wonderful team of people who I’m sure Peyo himself would have been proud of! Thank goodness we will get a few last precious updates from you guys, it will give us time so we can say goodbye and reminisce about all the great ( and some of the best) moments this game has ever seen!

Hopefully these new developers don’t ruin it. I remain ever-worried that this game will be migrated online, only to then be abandoned.

The game has only changed hands twice in 9 years.

Capcom originally owned the game, Beeline was a division of Capcom. Then Flasman Games bought it and Bongfish is their developer for SV.

And 9 years is incredible longevity for an app game.

Very true. It’s not uncommon for developers to abandon games after 4-5 years or so. Disney, in fact, have abandoned more than a few of their games.

AlleycatttSmurf yes, but this will be the third change. Not heaps, but the only game I've played that has changed devs multiple times. I still enjoy this app, so I just hope it's being passed to capable hands!

One of the guys who owns or runs Popreach was involved in Smurfs Village many years ago, maybe even from the beginning. Chris Locke, so I'm sure he has love for the game like we do. None the less im sure changes are on the way. I'm available for input! LOL

AJ Smurf. Thank you for the calm voice of reason! I’ve googled Chris Locke, and the Legacy team (in 2011, I think) for SV has him as Senior Director, Product Development. So here’s hoping for the best...

Morning Sky Yes, as Twinkiepie stated, I will still be here. I'm sure that PopReach is well aware of how vital the Community is to the present, and future success of Smurfs' Village. Over the next several months, they will be working closely with Bongfish to see how everything is done, and a large part of that will be listening to and reacting to community input and feedback. I can't imagine they would want to change that going forward once the game is entirely in their hands.
