Ms Bee, any news on whether Pirate Smurf's update will include any fixes for this problem in it?

[AP] Attempting to travel between village areas causes the game to crash in IOS version 1.4.7-1.5.7

Unfortunately, crashing when trying to travel between areas seems to be starting up again for me. I've tried rebooting, but it hasn't seemed to make any difference. At times, I seem to be able to travel okay if I first visit a smurf (ie Clown Smurf - just a quick pop in and out) and then attempt to use Feathers, but I don't know whether that is purely coincidental or not.

Have been having the same issue with crashes frequently on iPad1 with iOS 5.1.1
More Frequent in past few months than before
Affecting travel to Island, Mountain or space and also crashing at other times
Crash Reports submitted to Beeline Support before and again now on latest iOS version (Smurfs Village 1.5.1.1)
All crashes are LowMemory crashes - crashing even when Smurfs Village is the only App running

I am still getting the crashes. The tips on the closing of apps and rebooting have helped. But the crashing still happens.
I've gone on a purge in my main village hoping to reduce my memory foot print. I put all of the critters in critter jail (about 30x of them) and deleted most decorated items. I then put as many houses in the condos as I could. The village is somewhat more tidy but I still get crashes.
I do hope that they decided to devote some resources to crushing this bug. I have paid some $$$ for the SBs, so I don't want to abandon it.

Hi everyone. As many of you have noticed, the crashing is mainly occurring for players with older devices that only have 256 MB of RAM. The studio is investigating the issue to see what can be done to alleviate this issue.
As an alternative solution, other players have found that backing up their current device and then upgrading to a newer iOS device appears to solve the issue. Most new iOS devices include anywhere from 512 to 1024 MB of RAM. Understandably, the decision to upgrade will depend on several factors and is not a viable solution for everyone. I am merely informing those affected with their possible options.

Hi everyone. I'm running on iPad iOS 5.1.1 with 256 MB of RAM. Device can't be upgraded anymore. I trashed all other apps and stuff away, but Smurf Village still crash when moving to Mountain, Island or Space. I'll stay here till the next Smurf Village update: if Beeline doesn't fix the low memory issue, I will leave the game. They can't expect that I will buy a new iPad just for gaming. Sad.

The second type is called Storage memory. This is the 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB etc. memory option that you choose when purchasing an iOS device. This memory is where all of your app data is stored, all of your pictures, videos and everything installed on your iOS device. Deleting unused apps off of your iPad will not help low RAM memory issues at all, it will only free up extra storage space.
I can understand your frustration that the 1st Generation iPad became obsolete so prematurely. Unfortunately, Apple realized their mistake in only placing 256MB of RAM into the device a little too late for early iPad adopters. While the issue was corrected in the iPad 2 (which shipped with 512MB of RAM), the owners of the 1st gen iPad were left with a device that was unable to live up to it's full potential. I don't know if you are aware or not, but Apple itself has discontinued support for the 1st Gen iPad.
Developers have tried very hard to pick up the slack ever since, but as time goes on - this gets harder and harder to do. While the original iPad is still a good device, it's also four years old. Neither Beeline nor myself are telling you that you must upgrade your device. There comes a point though, when you need to understand that you can't expect continually updated, and or newly released apps to fully be supported without issues on older hardware forever. All that being said though, I truly hope the Studio is able to help come up with a solution to keep the game stable a while longer for players such as yourself with these older devices.

I took Tenny's advice and shut down all non-essential functions - email notifications, location, Bluetooth, etc - and since then, I haven't had a single crash in nearly a week while travelling. If you can turn off these functions that run in the background, I'd highly recommend it.

Weblion, I play on an old Ipod4 Touch, so it's one of the oldest devices that people play on (and unfortunately, also with one of the smallest screen sizes). As I'm only using it for games these days, I've been able to shut everything down except Smurfs Village and Game Centre, which, I guess is what has helped in my particular case.

MarkusM, my iPad 1 with 256MB RAM doesn't alloows to leave the village with out crashing. It's running just the game (everything else is off). As I stated days ago, if next update doesn't fix this issue affecting old device, I'll give up with the Smurf Village. It's just a game,in the end...Last edited by weblion; 04-09-2014, 12:56 PM.

I am travelling without issues. The Blacksmith Update was it for me!
But Feathers is not working at all. I'm a lifetime VIP, that's not it. I crash from everywhere, when I try on Feathers. ... Anyway ... without the crashing normal travelling is faster than usinf Feathers with crashing. I'm happy.
