    Brainy thinks he knows it all, but often the players know more than he does. Here are some common issues, their status, as well as some work arounds and answers for common things players have problems with, as well as links to previous topic.

    Note that this is not an exhaustive list of bugs, issues and/or common problems; only those that seriously affect gameplay or have known workarounds. There are many other known bugs not mentioned here, for both Android and IOS, and many are addressed in separate topics.

    Please do not comment on this topic; all comments will be removed. Where there are links, you can (and should!) leave comments there. The topic is made so people can find things easily, and adding on comments will make it way too long. If there is some important issue that you think should be added, or you have a workaround for a bug that is not included in an attached link, or you think something is incorrect, please PM me.

    Remember, this is not meant to be an exhaustive list of bugs, especially the purely graphical issues, like Lucky's blank exploding box, or the colorless stars dug up from craters, etc. etc.

    I've set it up so that each issue is in a separate comment. That way, if you PM me, you can refer to the comment number. When I have time I may set up an Index. Please note that this is not an 'official' topic; it is from skydiver118 and me to help you find, and perhaps address, some common issues and links.

    Village areas losing time aka the Going-Back-In-Time (GBIT) bug. [Bug]
    - All recently made progress can be totally lost. This can happen in any area of the game. The progress can even be lost as you are playing the game and move from one area to another, not just when you leave the game and come back. It happens less in the Main Village than in other areas.
    - Not even doing a local save before you leave an area can definitely prevent this, though it may help. Collecting XP from Fireman just before you leave an area (even if there is nothing to collect) may also help.
    - Especially if you buy or win something, or have a done a lot of redecorating, it is recommended that you do both the steps above before you leave that area of the game.
    - Force quitting the game (shutting the game down completely) once a day may also help, preferably at the end of the day, and after you have done a manual save.

      Disappearing items, reappearing items, missing village areas, overlapping items. [Corruption]

      - If you should experience an issue where specific items disappear (that you have had in your village for a while), or mini-games from one area are moved to another, or empty floating icons appear, or you cannot access or see areas of your village, or you have items that are now overlapping, this means you have likely experienced corruption.

      The quickest and safest fix for this is to immediately use the in-game recovery tool as soon as possible and restore your village to an earlier save that was made BEFORE the problem first appeared.

      Please note: If you choose to continue playing without making a recovery, or re-purchase the missing items, then the corruption will only get worse and could lead to permanent loss of your village. It is hard to lose progress, but it is worse to lose your village.

      Here's how you recover a local save:
      - Go to the Smurfs’ Village Settings (gear button in the bottom right corner of the screen)
      - My Account
      - Local Save
      - Choose a date and tap Preview Village
      - If you go back to a date before your things disappeared or went wrong, and everything looks good, tap the arrow on the bottom right and then agree to recover that village. If your village still does not look right, go back a day further and keep going back until you find a 'clean' version.

      So, if for example you first noticed the problem on a Thursday, check the Local Save from Tuesday, and if that’s good, you can use that save or go back even one day further to be extra safe. You only get 3 Recovery attempts every 24 hours, so we would advise that you preview each Recovery Point thoroughly before you choose to use it. If you need you to check another area besides the Main Village, you can travel to your other areas when previewing your Saves by tapping on the Rocket, Balloon, Ship, and Portal.

      Since you are essentially taking your village back in time, you will lose any recent progress made after the creation of that recovery point, but it's the only known way to reverse the corruption. If this does not work, or you lose any recent purchases that you have made, please submit a ticket with Customer Support, and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

      Please remember, do not ever do a full delete and reinstall of your village unless instructed to do so by Customer Support, as you will lose all the data stored on your device, and may not be able to recover a your game.

        Village has reverted to Level 1.
        - First, completely reboot your device.
        - Open your game, and if it is still Level 1, attempt to recover your last local save before the issue happened. Here are the steps:
        - Play completely through the opening dialogue.
        - Immediately after, tap on the Settings button (gear button in the bottom right corner of the screen.) Do not perform any other actions.
        - Go to the My Account tab.
        - Tap the Cloud Save button and TURN OFF Cloud: Autosave. This is crucial.
        - Go back one step and tap the Local Save button.
        - Choose the latest save and tap Preview Village.
        - It will take a few moments to load your last local save. If your correct level is showing, tap the arrow on the bottom right and then agree to recover that village.

        If there are no local saves showing, please contact Customer Support.

        Please remember, do not ever do a full delete and reinstall of your village unless instructed to do so by Customer Support, as you will lose all the data stored on your device, and may not be able to recover a your game.

          Clockwork Smurf on the Island cannot be completed. [Bug]
          - As soon as bolts have been collected, the game resets itself.
          - No 'fix' yet. It is recommended that you not concentrate on Clockwork on the Island until the problem is fixed.

              Game crashes when trying to place the Dark Knight on the Mountain. [Bug]
              - Still a problem for Android and some IOS devices. You can read about it here: https://smurfsforums.popreach.com/fo...n-the-mountain
              - The only work-around is not to place him if you win him in the Mystery Box.

                Trouble placing Train Tunnels and/or Bridges. [Incorrect in-game description]
                - You can place them, but the in-game description is wrong. The Train Tunnel only goes across cliffs, not rivers. The Train Bridge does not go across cliffs- it only goes across rivers.

                  Cannot see all the rewards for Tourist and Trophy Smurfs. [Bug]
                  - Still a bug. [This also affects the Lunar New Year game that was based on Tourist and Trophy.]
                  - Some players report that they cannot claim the Jet from Tourist Smurf's Hut even after all items are won.

                    The Crystal Grinder won't grind Geologist Smurf's crystals. [Bug]
                    - You receive a pop-up message stating that Geologist Smurf's Hut is required, although to even have those crystals, you must have Geologist.
                    - This refers only to the crystals of Geologist Smurf on the Mountain, the bottom six that you may see in the Grinder if you have Geologist and have found crystals.

                      In the MV, the beluga can't be placed on the water tiles. [Bug]
                      - Still a bug, but it can be placed in the ocean.

                        A Smurf hammers potions and Greedy items rather than consuming them. [Bug]
                        - This is a problem because then he is not free to do anything else, like farm, build etc.
                        - Workarounds: Reboot your game or visit another area and then return.

                          Smurfberry Bird won't collect the smurfberry from the Lantern Festival wonder on the Island. [Bug]
                          - On some devices, the Smurfberry bird will not collect the berry from the little lantern of the Lantern Festival wonder.
                          - The workaround is to collect it manually.

                            Smurfberry Bird will not collect smurfberries at all. [Bug]
                            - Sometimes nothing happens when you tap the Smurfberry Bird to make a collection.
                            - Workaround 1: Go to Fireman and collect XP (even if there is none to be collected.) When you go back to the Smurfberry Bird, he should be able to collect your smurfberries.

                            - Workaround 2: Reboot your game.

                              The game screen freezes and becomes unresponsive to the touch.
                              - Try this: Put two fingers on the screen and wiggle them back and forth. The screen won't move- don't worry about it. Take your two fingers off the screen, then try touching and moving it with one finger, as normal.
                              - If that doesn't work, you will need to reboot your device.
