Important Announcement: Apple will soon begin implementing App Store Price increases for several countries over the next week

Hi everyone. Apple recently sent out an email to all iOS developers announcing that there will be new App Store price increases in Denmark, Mexico, and all territories that use the Euro currency. The new pricing changes will go into effect before the end of next week. Apple cited changes in foreign exchange rates as the reason behind the price hike.

Along with the App Store price changes, Apple has announced that a value-added tax (VAT) rate of five percent will also go into effect for customers in Taiwan starting on May 1, 2017. Apps and in-app purchases will be affected.

Your proceeds will be reduced accordingly and will be calculated based on the tax exclusive price.

Apple has increased prices by more than 10 percent in the Euro zone. The EO, which so far cost 24.99 €, now costs 27.99 €. However, the old prices could still stand, because Apple offers developers the possibilities for alternative price levels. These must be manually selected by the developers for the regions concerned, for example the euro zone. Will Flashman/Bongfish use the option to set the new iTunes prices in euro zone back to the old prices please? No one here gets 10 percent more salary or wage.

What?? Please adjust the prices Bongfish! ????
Even though I never buy offers at 24.99, an increase by 3€ is not cool. And the other offers will follow. So is guess the 9.99 will soon be at 10.99 ????

The VIP EO with 800 SB and Homnibus will cost 54.99 € now instead of 49.99 €. The question is: Will Bongfish/Flashman correct the price? The developers can do this. Apple allows it.

Morning Sky It's something that will definitely have to be looked at and discussed at great length. There are pros and cons to both, but hopefully we'll hear something soon.

I've only seen this thread today and I really would like to know Apple's justification for this. Because the exchange rate isn't the problem.

Once upon a time, items were cheaper in Euro than in USD. The $9.99 offer were €7.99, the $1.99 Rarity Shop items were €1.77. That was due to the Euro being a lot stronger than the US Dollar. They changed it to 1:1 a long time ago which was a disappointment and not quite fair because the Euro still was stronger. Now, it still is stronger. Nearly equal, but still a teeny tiny bit stronger. €1 = $1.09 (or maybe .08 now, but that was what I saw in the paper this morning). That makes 1:1 fair. But NOT charging more than they charge in USD.

          €1.99 turned into €2.29; €24.99 into €27.99; €49.99 into €54.99. Not cool.

I haven't spent much money on the game so it doesn't concern me personally that much (although that certainly won't make me more eager to buy something), but it's a very questionable action in general and I feel for all the € paying users who will have to spend more money now or refrain from buying something they want.

Honestly, what the *beep*, Apple, what the *beep*. :/

I remember the times where we could buy SB bundles for 1,99€ and 2,99€. THAT were great times! 7,99€ was a price i was able to pay, 9,99€ was a bit more stronger and i have to think a bit longer... but everything over 10€ i'm not willing to pay! It is only a game and these are interactive items. More than 10€ per EO is too expensive for me! That means i will stop buying EOs. And yes i'm also thinking it is in the hand of the developers how much money they offer their items. Anyways, 10€ is my personal limit for one EO. It was okay buying 1-2 per month... more € per EO will some people think over it and maybe buying less than before! So it should be in the interests of the developers don't forget about the psychological aspect of the price. 7,99€ sounds much better than 8€, right? Sure it's nearly the same amount but it feels not so much than the other ☺️. Same for 9,99€ to 10,99€! Only 1€ but could maybe people hold off their money!

Agree! 10€ is also my limit. Won't buy EOs anymore if they are over 10€. It's sad but at some point you just have to stop...

            Evanna is right: today 1 Euro = 1,0910 Dollar, 1 Dollar = 0,9166 Euro.

Today's EO costs 27.99 €. This equals 30.60 U.S. dollars. Is this a fair euro price?

That's $5.61 more for Europeans than for Americans/the rest of the world. :/

              54,99 € - what a price! 54,99 € are 60,40 U.S. dollar. So the Europeans pay 10,41 $ more than all others.

Guest Twinkiepie Spelling Bee Do we get the opinion of Bongfish?

I guess Bongfish likes the money! Since they have not changed, they will probably not change anything. But they should openly admit it.

                  1 US-Dollar = 0,898803692 Euro
                  1 Euro = 1,11259 US-Dollar

Had a look as well and basically:

                      $1.99 = €1.77
                      $9.99 = €8.91
                      $24.99 = €22.30
                      $49.99 = €44.61

                      €1.77 not your €2.29
                      €8.91 not your €10.99
                      €22.30 not your €27.99
                      €44.61 not your €54.99

Please explain to us why people in the Eurozone are supposed to pay so much more than they should have to?
Not only do they have to pay more than an 'equal' yet still somewhat unfair price (aka 9.99 being 9.99), they have to pay more than US citizens or the rest of the world even though they should pay less.

I'm not going to spend €55 on one pixel item and some in game currency, but the exchange rate affects even small items people with less money can buy. Even the smallest possible purchase is unfair now. Someone in the Eurozone should pay €1.77 for a Rarity Shop item but is supposed to pay €2.29. That's 52 cents more. When you buy ten Rarity Shop items at that price, you should get thirteen instead! And if we talk about the $49.99 offers it's even worse. People are charged a whole EO of the cheapest level more than others! In fact, one €55 item should be that item plus one $9.99 item plus one Rarity Shop item. Those three items together are €55.29 when you charge €54.99 for one item.
