Our Christmas was nice; just the 5 of us as usual. Probably our last "big hurrah" Christmas for now, as the kids are all grown and the boys both graduated college this year. And you?
We fared alright with Friday's weather. Thinks were slick in the morning, but everyone made it to where they needed to go just fine.
Now they are saying there may be more of that New Year's Eve. I'm hoping they are wrong as it is our anniversary, and we have reservations with friends at a very nice restaurant. Looking forward to that and don't want to have to travel in yucky weather or be wearing nice clothes and "weather safe" shoes. Lol! -
Happy New Year and Happy Anniversary! Hope the weather wasn’t too bad there last night. We had some sleet and snow, then lots of rain. It wasn’t a great night to be out but I’m old and happy to stay home now anyway!
Christmas here was nice/quiet. BF was in Rochester visiting his family, my son and my Mom were here. Mom is 90 so just being here is good. I have to cook when BF is away so no fancy breakfasts until he got home! He loves to cook and plan different meals, I’ve always been a ok here’s a balanced meal type of cook but a really good baker!
Maybe your boys will stay in the area or be able to visit often. My son transferred to another college this fall for environmental earth science. Been a bit of culture shock for him just jumping into a bigger less personal college after getting his associates at a smaller place but he survived the first semester!
We have wicked winds to start the New Year here—60+ mph gusts but at least it’s in the 40s so the wind chill isn’t bad.
Did you get a new iPad and say goodbye to SSF? I’m still playing every day although it isn’t the same not being able to visit. I haven’t opened my PMBs yet. Been saving them for so long I just can’t seem to be that final! -
So long story short, Cat, no, I did not yet get a new iPad.
Turns out they were not on sale over the holidays as hoped. Instead, Apple had a promotion for a $100 gift card with the purchase of a new iPad. That just wasn't an offer we were interested in. Also, my son encouraged me to wait awhile anyway, since the latest version of iPad is apparently very thin and quite prone to damage. He says I should wait until they improve the manufacturing process in that regard.
In the meantime, I've been playing a bit each day just to keep up my streak through the holidays, but I really need to just bite the bullet and update my existing iPad. It will be hard to give up, but I have to admit that it's time. I've opened all my PMBs, including a few more that have cropped up along the way. The only curious thing to come from it was that after 6 years of playing, I picked up a third fungi stump. So odd that I never got any until these very last few months, and now suddenly I have three. Lol!
