  • Smurfs' Village Christmas

I was going to wait until I was finished making everything, but I really love how my figures came out, so I'm sharing them now.

Every year I make a gingerbread village just for fun, and I work on different skills I want to develop, like piping, sculpting, etc.

This year's village is all about the Smurfs. I have my house and sleigh parts baked, and I worked on making modeling chocolate and fondant figures today. Smurfette was super hard.

I'm hoping to finish assembling and decorating next week.

Thank you! I'll post more pictures as I go. I'm in the fence about coloring the Smurf houses.

Smurfy things are happening, but there's still a lot to do.

Thank you, AlleycatttSmurf! There's a drippy spot on the back of the blue hut, but I think I can cover it with snow. It's a good way to hide a multitude of sins. LOL!

Not easily seen in this picture are the grey chimneys. I'll take more photos after I add the doors and windows.

Today was all about windows and doors. I had an appointment this afternoon, so I didn't get much else accomplished. I need to remember to draw on some door handles and recolor the houses inside the windows.

The isomalt Christmas tree cast turned out a bit too saturated for my liking, so when more isomalt arrives on Thursday, I will try again.

It’s looking so amazing Schtroumpfette, I’m in total awe of how you can do this! What are the doors made of, are they chocolate? I’ll wait in line behind Cupcake for the gingerbread, it’s my favourite too!

cosmickitten, thank you! The doors and windows are rolled fondant. I used an impression mat to give a wood grain effect and powdered food coloring mixed with vodka to accent the wood grain.

I just added window panes to the blue hut and curtains to Smurfette's hut. I use tweezers to apply decorations because they're so tiny.

Wow! Thank you Chat noir, cosmickitten, Lilly, and AlleycatttSmurf!

There are several Smurfberry bushes, but two are hidden on the far side of the houses. I got the idea for those while watching a Food Network competition. They are cereal dipped in candy melts.

I didn't want to bombard everyone with too many more photos.
