Bendu was so handsome! I am sorry that you had him for such a short time but I know he will be in your memory forever. ????

Schtroumpfette So happy that your cancer is in remission!! I firmly believe that having a kitty companion helps us when we most need it. Over the years, I have had several that seemed to know when I needed comforting. I am sure Ilia does the same for you! ????

@stroumphette cosmickitten Such wonderful photos and memories! They were lucky kitties- well loved by their humans. ❤️

What a beautiful kitty, and -yay, a rescue! It sounds like she has tons and tons of personality, but it looks like she is very ‘chill’, also! Sorry that you have been having health issues, but happy to read below that you are in remission!

cosmickitten, he was beautiful.
We lost our 19-year-old female cat just a couple months before we rescued Bendu. She was a calico who was a little bit afraid of everyone. She hissed a lot, even at our friends. Bendu had an upper respiratory infection when we first got him, and it cleared up with antibiotic.
My daughter and son-in-law's cat has had pancreatitis several times. It's a scary illness, because they become so desperately ill so fast. I'm sorry he is gone. He had beautiful eyes.

Awwwww how beautiful... Bless him. They never leave us ????. Below is Marley, the cat I lost in January, he was only 10 but developed pancreatitis. I will always miss him and talk to his picture everyday! I’m so glad to hear you have come out the other side of your treatment and are now in remission. Stay strong. ????????????

Since I was talking about Bendu, here are a couple pictures of this wonderful creature, RIP. He was such an amazing little guy. Everyone he met was his new best friend. That's my husband with him.

Unicorn Smurf yeah, Bendu was an amazing little kitty. I'm going to dig up a picture of him with my hubby. Ilia cracks me up on the regular. We put up kitty shelves and made basically a track around the living room wall for her to climb and play on. (I watched enough Jackson Galaxy to know that she needed these) She's very high energy, but she has the most amazing disposition. She's patient and never hisses at anyone. She's very playful, which is great--she's helping me regain my strength.

Thank you, cosmickitten. She's in great health, so that's promising. Our vet instructed us to not get a kitten while I was undergoing chemo because of the risk of several kitty-to-human diseases that could transmit while my immune system was incredibly compromised.
Bendu (named after Bendu on Star Wars Rebels) , our little black kitty who died was everyone's best friend. I need to find a picture of him. He was so sweet.
And, yes, I'm doing well. My cancer is in "complete remission," per my oncologist. I became ill last September, and I was diagnosed in December just before Christmas. I had six rounds of chemo over 18 weeks. I have to make it five years without relapse to be considered "cured."
I'm sorry about the loss of your kitty. Our fur babies are such huge parts of our families.Last edited by Schtroumpfette; 07-24-2019, 03:05 PM.

Schtroumpfette What a total beauty... ????. I lost my cat to illness back in January and you never quite get over it but taking another cat into your life fills a hole in your heart. And Ilia (brilliant name) is absolutely gorgeous. I love Russian Blues, they are such elegant looking cats. Enjoy, I hope she is with you for many years and that your health is improving.
(Sorry, this was supposed to be in the comments!) ????Last edited by cosmickitten; 07-24-2019, 02:43 PM.

I am so very sorry about your 9-month old kitty; never easy to lose a loved one. ???? Ilia is absolutely gorgeous!! I love when cats talk a lot, and it sounds like she has plenty to say. So sweet!! Thank you for choosing a rescue to find your kitty. Rescued kitties are the best!! ????????❤️
-
@ejic12--she's between one and two years old. Two different vets placed her age in that range. I hope she's with us a very long time. <3

She looks EXACTLY like my first cat, Scruppers. She lived to the ripe old age of 23. ????????????

I just found this thread. I love seeing everyone's kitties.
Our most recent addition to our family is Ilia (named after Ilia on Star Trek The Motion Picture). We got her in February after we lost our little black kitty to FIP. He was only 9 months old. My heart still misses him. One of my chemo nurses recommended the rescue where we found Ilia--she's at least part Russian Blue--she has all the characteristics, including polydactyl front paws. She's a handful--and I like it that way. She chatters and has full conversations, especially if I hiss when she's doing something she shouldn't be, she'll meow, as if to say, "But, Mom..."
This first one is from a few days ago. She commandeered the pillow I keep for behind my back while we're at the kitchen table.
This second one was one night while we were watching television. She has such a happy sleeping face.
The third one is from about 15 minutes after we first brought her home:
